Fotsis Aiming For Greek Glory

17 February 2004

Real Madrid's Greek forward Antonis Fotsis is confident his national team can give their fans something to cheer at this summer's Olympic Games.

Greece will be the hosts of the Games and their supporters can be expected to turn their matches into a cauldron of noise and passionate support.

"We hope we can do something important," Fotsis said. "We are going to be playing with extra motivation to achieve something and also to help basketball in our country.

"It is not going through it's best moment right now," he told AS.

Fotsis considers Spain, where he currently plies his trade, as serious candidates for a place on the Olympic podium.

He said: "That's certain, they played really well in the European Championships. They have a great team and they have shown they are among the best in the world."
