Spanish Head Coach Anna Caula has hailed two key ingredients which she believes will give defending champions Spain a real opportunity to retain their U20 European Championship Women title in Samsun, Turkey.

Speaking after her team fought off France in their final game of the Noia preparation tournament to clinch second place at the event, the play-caller emphasised the main strengths of her side.

"Our perseverance and team work are the two things that make us great," insisted Caula, who led her team to the top of the podium last summer in Debrecen.

The coach watched her players take a 59-53 success against their neighbours, with the powerful Astou Ndour pouring in 21 points. She will be one of the main players to watch when the action tips-off in Turkey.

Caula will also have plenty of experience to call upon, since Andrea Vilaro, Yurena Diaz, Inmaculada Zanoguera and Sara Rodriguez are all back on board.

The quartet will be seeking consecutive gold medals in what would be an astonishing sixth Final appearance in seven years, should Spain make it to the title game.

The Noia tournament was eventually won by Turkey, who won all three of their games and signed off with a 64-56 victory against Russia who could not muster a win, despite 15 points from last years' U20 European Championship Women MVP Ksenia Tikhonenko.
