|Aleksandar Vezenkov delivered yet another stellar display for Bulgaria|
Bulgaria took Sweden by storm in their Group G Day 2 clash on Tuesday and breezed to a vital for their interests 78-57 triumph, their first success at the U20 European Championship on Crete.
Turning Point: Bulgaria, fully conscious of the importance of this encounter, came out guns blazing and jumped to a double-digit lead, 13-2, after just four minutes of play. The Balkan side continued with their foot on the gas until the mid-point of the third quarter when they enjoyed their biggest advantage, 56-31.
Game Hero: Aleksandar Vezenkov has waited a long time in this tournament for one of his monstrous double-double displays to be rewarded with the sweet taste of victory. The Bulgarian power forward, who leads the competition in both scoring and rebounds, came up with 30 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
Stats Don't Lie: Bulgaria dished out 20 assists (Sweden only seven) and despite the fact their shooting accuracy dropped towards the end of the game, they still shot an excellent 57% from two-point range and collected 48 of their 76 points from shots close to the rim, while Sweden only scored 20 points in the paint.
The Bottom Line: Group G in the Classification Games for 13th to 20th Place could hardly be more balanced, as all four teams now stand at 1-1 and everything will be decided on Wednesday, the last day of action in this stage.
