Alena Hanusová continued her impressive form the BK Brno, pouring in 23 points
BK Imos Brno grabbed their first win of the new EuroLeague Women season after outlasting struggling Nadezhda 76-67 in Group B.
In a game with plenty of lead changes, the home side gained the decisive momentum at the end of the third quarter and held their nerve for the remainder of the contest in an impressive team effort, underpinned by a trio of excellent performances.
Alena Hanusova continued her fine form with 23 points and was complimented in the frontcourt by the experienced Anna Jurcenkova who had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.
And, with Ashley Key very much the ‘X-Factor' during the game, with 18 points including three precious triples, Brno clinched a morale boosting victory to snap both a seven game losing streak in the competition and a five game run of defeats against Russian opposition.
It was a 13-2 burst in the third quarter which paved the way for their first EuroLeague Women success for more than 11 months and unsurprisingly Brno fans savoured the moment on the final buzzer.
The result left Nadezhda with three losses to their name and without a victory, having witnessed head coach Algirdas Paulauskas resign earlier in the week.
Dewanna Bonner claimed 21 points but for the second time in a row, she had to suffer defeat against one of her former clubs.
