Ukrainian powerhouses Azovmash and BC Kyiv remain the teams to beat in the Ukrainian Superleague.

Both sides progressed comfortably to Round II of the EuroCup and are taking advantage of the two week break to focus fully on domestic affairs.

Defending champions BC Kyiv traveled to Lviv at the weekend for a game against Politechnika, a side which had won just 2 out of their 8 games prior to the match-up.

Although Kyiv was depleted by the absences of Lamarr Greer, Dragan Lukovski, Andrei Lebedev, Goran Nikolic and Mark Jones, there was little doubt about the outcome of the contest.
Kyiv started the game strong and blew the hosts away with a 12-35 first quarter. They never showed any signs of slowing down and, led by Dusan Kecman's 15 points, took home a 62-107 win.
Michael Harris added 14 points for the visitors, Kreso Loncar, Artem Butski and Vladimir Podolyan scored 13 apiece and Ratko Varda contributed 11.
BC Politechnik Kharkiv entered their road game against Azovmash with only one win in eight games, and their chances of improving the win/loss record were slim.
Azovmash have been on a roll lately, having won all 9 Superleague match-ups, including upsets over their main rivals BC Kyiv and Khimik Yuzhniy.

Kenan Bairamovic scored a game-high 23 points for Azovmash to help his team to a 97-62 win. Miroslav Beric added 18 points and Sergei Lishchuk had 16 for Mariupol.
Khimik Yuzhniy suffered an unexpected 86-73 loss in Dniepropetrovsk, as Dnipro destroyed the visitors in the final quarter (26-11). Dennis Ivanov led the home side with 22 points and Alexander Panchenko added 19.
Khimik's Dubravko Zemlic scored 26 points, but did not get enough help from his teammates in the match-up.
The Superleague's top-scorer this weekend was MBC Mykolaiv's pointguard Vitaliy Boiko.

His 31 points and 8 rebounds helped his team defeat Kryvbassbasket 102-80. Boiko's teammate Alexei Onufriev finished the game with a double-double: 25 points and 13 boards.
In the other games of the weekend Cherkassy Monkeys defeated SC Mariupol 93-86 and MBC Odessa recorded an 82-70 win over Pulsar Rivne.
Azovmash are leading the Superleague with a perfect 10-0 record, Kyiv are second with 9-1 and Khimik Yuzhniy are in third with 8-2.
