Lithuania beat Bulgaria 81-74 in an entertaining game to take 15th place at the U16 European Championship Women and complete a miserable tournament for the hosts.
A year after contesting the Division B final, both teams met in more subdued circumstances on Sunday, having had their immediate returns confirmed in defeats on Saturday.
Every game at this level is valuable experience for the players though, and the two teams produced a high-scoring encounter despite the early start.
Lithuania scored the first 12 points of the contest but Bulgaria came all the way back to lead 42-36 at half-time as Nikol Nikolova nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer.
Lithuania weathered the storm and turned things around in the third quarter, ending the period on a 15-2 run and extending the lead to 16 in the final period to leave Bulgaria winless for the competition.
Laura Juskaite picked up her sixth double-double in nine games with 18 points and 12 rebounds, adding five assists and three steals. Dovile Strimaityte had 15 points and seven rebounds and Martyna Petrenaite contributed 13 points and four steals.
Bulgaria were led by 14 points each from Ilona Ilieva and Eleonora Koleva. Both also had six rebounds and three steals, while Ilieva added five assists and Koleva four blocks.
