|Ewelina Kobryn was again very effective for UMMC Ekaterinburg)|
Reigning Euroleague Women champions UMMC Ekaterinburg underlined their class by preserving their unbeaten status with a comfortable 73-66 road win at Beretta Famila Schio.
It was the fifth straight win of the campaign and the eleventh consecutive victory of the calendar year for the Russian powerhouse.
They also welcomed long-term injury victim Olga Arteshina back to action and the Russian national team veteran managed more than 15 minutes of court time.
The visitors sealed their latest success with a powerful last 15 minutes, in a game that had seen Schio compete intensely in pursuit of an upset.
But, the quality of their opponents became more obvious as the game unfolded and UMMC began to turn the screw in earnest during the second half.
Both teams enjoyed a share of the lead before the interval, but some flawless free-throw shooting and a devastating 11-0 start to the last quarter iced the game for UMMC.
It took them into a 70-55 lead with less than five minutes remaining and a late flurry from Schio wasn't enough to seriously challenge the outcome.
Candace Parker was five of six from the field for 11 points for UMMC and Sandrine Gruda inked a team-high 13 points, but Polish star Ewelina Kobryn stood out with a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Elodie Godin continued her good form for the Italian champions and posted 18 points and eight rebounds.
