|Vilmantas Dilys has put in the rock in Tartu Rock since arriving in Estonia |
Vilmantas Dilys of Tartu University Rock and Willie Kemp of Gaz Metan Medias are the Week 4 Top Statistical Performers in the EuroChallenge Last 16.
Both players registered an efficiency index rating of 30 on Tuesday in Group I action, although only Dilys reaped any benefit from his performance as his team knocked down the reigning EuroChallenge champions Krasnye Krylia, 84-73, to qualify to the quarter-final play-offs.
Kemp on the other hand was not rewarded for putting up his best display of the season, since Medias lost 81-79 at home to Port of Antwerp Giants and are out of contention for a spot in the next phase from the group.
Against Krasnye Krylia, Dilys equalised his EuroChallenge season-high with 23 points, but on his best shooting percentage so far this season, 9-for-11 from the floor.
The Lithuanian big man rounded-out his excellent scoring display by collecting seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and blocking one shot, to help the Estonian side clinch the vital victory.
Dilys joined Tartu midway through the EuroChallenge Regular Season and has exerted a significant role in his new team's unbeaten run ever since, as he leads them in scoring, rebounds and steals.
Kemp meanwhile finished with a double-double of 20 points and 11 assists in his losing effort, and added four rebounds and four steals for good measure.
Interestingly, one of the main responsible parties for Kemp and Medias missing out on the win that would have kept them alive in the qualification race, is one of the two players who share third place on the Week 4 Top Statistical Performers table, with an efficiency index rating of 27.
Ryan Pearson came up with 23 points and added seven rebounds and two assists to propel Antwerp to victory.
The American forward joined Antwerp just ahead of the start of the Last 16 and has scored in double digits in every one of his four games in the EuroChallenge.
Sani Becirovic is the other player to have registered a rating of 27 this week and the only one in this company to have not been involved in Group I action.
The veteran Slovenian guard poured in 13 points in the fourth quarter to inspire a Krka Novo Mesto comeback against Cholet, and ultimately led his team to a 93-88 win in overtime.
Becirovic finished with 21 points on 7-of-11 from the floor, five rebounds and six assists, his best performance in the EuroChallenge since signing for Krka during the weekend break.
