American playmaker Valencia McFarland has penned a deal to play with EuroLeague Women newcomers CSU Alba Iulia after the Romanian club started to assemble their roster for their inaugural campaign.

The point-guard will make her professional debut with the rookie campaigners after playing for the last four years with the University of Mississippi in the NCAA.

McFarland led her team with 17.2 points and an impressive 6.3 assists per game during her senior year and is delighted to have been given a chance to realise her ambition of playing in Europe.

She said, "This is a dream come true.

"I've always wanted to play professional basketball and I look forward to competing with and against some of the top women's basketball players.

"I'd like to thank my family and friends for their continued support throughout this journey."

McFarland has already been hailed as one of the greatest players to have represented ‘Ole Miss' in the college game and after graduation, she was invited to a training camp by WNBA side Seattle Storm - but did not make it onto the final roster.
