England have finished their debut appearance in the U18 European Championship with a 69-59 victory over Italy to wrap up the tournament's ninth position.
A special fourth quarter from point guard Luke Nelson ensured England held onto their lead established in the waning moments of the third term.
Italy jumped out to a hot start, but contributions from Jules Dang Akodo and Morayoninuoluwa Soluade enabled England to fight back and take their first lead of the game four minutes into the second quarter.
Down four points at halftime, an 8-2 run to close out the third quarter saw England enter the final 10 minutes of the game holding an eight-point lead.
Nelson had no intention of letting his team surrender their advantage as the point guard delivered 13 final-quarter points, hitting two three-point baskets from an identical spot on the left wing in a four-for-seven shooting effort.
Nelson finished with a game-high 20 points and Soluade added 13.
Italy were led by 11 points from Jacopo Vedovato.
