Serbia's Perovic Waived By Warriors

15 September 2008

Serbia center Kosta Perovic has played well for his country this summer but his performances haven't convinced the Golden State Warriors to keep the 23-year-old under contract.

The NBA club said in a statement: "The Golden State Warriors have waived center Kosta Perovic, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced Friday."

Perovic was a second-round draft pick by the Warriors in the 2006 NBA draft. He played in just seven games in the 2007-08 campaign.

The 2.17m Perovic did appear in 21 games with the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League, averaging 9.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.55 blocks in 23.3 minutes.

For Serbia in EuroBasket Division A, he has played more than 15 minutes per game, averaging 7.5 points and four rebounds.

The Serbians are 5-1 in Group A heading into Wednesday's games.
