Former Perfumerias Avenida play-caller Alberto Miranda is back at the helm in Salamanca after being handed a second opportunity as head coach of the dethroned Spanish champions.
Installed into the position at the start of the 2012-13 campaign, he was soon relieved of his duties after an underwhelming start and replaced by Victor Lapena, who has paid the price for losing the Liga Femenina title to Rivas Ecopolis.
Miranda had been recently unveiled as the boss of Solna Vikings in Sweden, but will instead have another chance to coach in EuroLeague Women.
He has signed a two year deal to coach at Pabellon Wurzburg, having been involved with the club on and off for more than a decade.
"I told him back in 2012 there would be a new opportunity," explained Club President, Jorge Recio who also acknowledged the need for patience which was required prior to the announcement in the wake of the critical barrage which accompanied relinquishing their coveted Championship.
"We wanted to take a period of reflection. All my family and myself felt very hurt and mistreated and especially after the effort we have made for the sport in Salamanca - so we decided to think about it for a while.
"He had bad luck the first time and he deserves this.
"He has proven his dedication, so we are delighted to have him back here and he has our full confidence," concluded Recio.
And 18 months after his first experience, Miranda himself is looking forward to his return.
"I learned a lot in those four months," he revealed
"Avenida is also the club where I was born as a coach."
Miranda will be working with Angelica Robinson, Eshaya Murphy and Marta Xargay who have all re-signed, while Spanish forward Vanessa Ble and Paraguayan guard, Paola Ferrari are two of the new arrivals.
