BC Azovmash Mariupol warmed up for Tuesday's EuroCup home encounter against Asesoft Ploiesti with a hard-fought domestic victory over Budivelnyk.
Azovmash were pushed all the way by Budivelnyk - a club who have won six Ukrainian titles - and it wasn't until the closing stages that Rimas Girskis' team managed to pull away for the victory, ultimately prevailing 92-78.
Young center Serhiy Lishchuk was the star of the show for Azovmash with 20 points and seven rebounds in the win.
The Ukrainian giants will be hoping the performance stands them in good stead for Tuesday's European match as they look to get their EuroCup hopes back on track.
Azovmash began their Group A campaign with a narrow 77-72 defeat to last season's FIBA Europe League champions Dynamo St Petersburg while Romanian side Asesoft started out with a 75-66 triumph over Cholet.
