Spain maintained their flawless record at the U18 European Championship Women in Vinkovci by coasting to a 92-33 success against England to finish the first stage of the competition as Group B winners.

Whilst England more or less kept pace with their opponents for the first five minutes of the game, it was downhill for one of the new Division A teams after this juncture as Spain highlighted the gulf in quality and depth.

Trailing 18-11 after the first 10 minutes of the contest, England had no response to the Spanish as they began to pull further ahead after the break thanks to their offensive dangers all over the floor.

By half-time England were 18 points behind and things did not improve when they came back to tread the boards for the third quarter.

The Spanish really pushed down hard on the gas and outscored England 41-10 in the second half with the English absolutely stone cold from 14 attempts downtown.

Five Spanish players reached double-figures in scoring with Marina Lizarazu one of a trio of players to also add five assists.

Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby had 11 points and four rebounds for England who will now play in the Classification Round.
