Leading from start to finish, France eased past Germany 63-30 and became the first team to claim a quarter-finals berth at the U20 European Championship Women on Monday in Samsun.
France pulled away early by using four three-pointers in a 15-3 run to end the first quarter, along with an impressive defensive effort, holding Germany scoreless for more than 12 minutes in the first half. They built a 33-11 lead and continued to dominate for the remainder of the game.
With a comfortable lead and starters getting limited minutes, France held the Germans below 22% shooting, and forced 25 turnovers to have complete control of the game.
Sara Chevaugeon had 11 points, and Christelle Diallo scored 10 in victory, while Laura Hebecker netted 13 for Germany.
