|Artemis Spanou was inspirational in Greece's big second-half comeback|
Greece rallied from a 20-point deficit to down the Netherlands 56-50 in Group E action at the U20 European Championship Women on Monday
The Dutch used Maxime Essenstam‘s early dominance underneath the rim to make a 16-3 first-half run, opening up a 30-10 advantage midway through the second quarter.
But Greece rallied after halftime behind the marvellous Artemis Spanou and three-pointers from Anthoula Chatzigiakoumi. A triple from Spanou put Greece up 46-41, and they held on for an important victory.
Greek three-point shooting played a major role in the comeback, as they hit seven of their nine shots from downtown in the second half. Meanwhile, the Netherlands finished the game 2-for-13 from behind the arc.
Spanou had a monster game with 25 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Anna Stamolamprou and Vasiliki Tarla chipped in with seven points apiece for Greece.
Essenstam finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in defeat.
