Portugal completed an incredible first summer in Division A by collecting a stunning sixth win in a row to take ninth place at the U18 European Championship after a super comeback in a 69-56 win over Greece.
Earlier in the contest, Portugal looked destined to be the losing team when Greece went 35-17 ahead after a three-pointer by Anna Stamolamprou, who eventually sunk a superb 29 points for her team.
But with confidence oozing through their pores from having secured five straight wins in their top flight debut, Portugal set about clawing back the deficit.
By the end of the third quarter, they had noy only wiped out the arrears, but Chelsea Guimares gave them the lead at 50-48 on the buzzer.
With their tails in the air, Portugal did not waste their momentum and kept taking advantage of Greece sliding by producing an excellent 19-8 last period.
Joana Cortinhas had 22 points for the winning side, an effort also underpinned by 15 points and 11 rebounds by Maria Kostourkova.
