A new attendance record for a European women's basketball game was set in Kayseri during the second leg of the EuroCup Women Finals on Thursday.

A sell-out crowd of 11,000 turned out at Kadir Has Kongre ve Spor Merkezi to support their home team Kayseri Kaski spor against Russian side Dynamo Moscow.

The crowd witnessed a dramatic finish, as their team won the second leg 74-70, but lost the EuroCup Women Finals 136-135 on aggregate.

"We saw an unbelievable game with an incredible ending. The fans were fantastic; the atmosphere was very hot and fair. I am proud of this new record and happy about this successful sporting night," commented FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak.

The EuroCup Women Final in Kayseri was further proof of women's basketball being on the rise and Turkey being a hotbed for the sport.

The previous attendance record had been set last year when 8,574 supporters saw the derby game between Galatasaray Medical Park and Fenerbahce during the EuroLeague Women Final Eight 2012 in Abdi Ipekci, Istanbul.
