BC Gottingen showed why they finished top of the pile in Group I by showing little mercy as they hammered Eiffel Towers Den Bosch 86-67 in Holland. It was a game with little riding on it as Eiffel Towers were already eliminated while Gottingen had already sealed top spot. Gottingen were led by Taylor Rochestie with 19 points and eight rebounds, with Ben Jacobson also finishing with 19 points, and Chris Oliver scoring 11 points and pulling down eight boards. The hosts - who outscored Gottingen 30-22 in the final stanza - had David Janson as their top scorer on 15 points with Tristan Blackwood and Kees Akerboom adding 12 apiece. The Germans led from tip to buzzer, scoring the first seven points of the game as Robert Kulawick drained a trey to open the scoring with Jason Boone and Oliver each scoring lay-ups as the visitors scored the first seven points of the game. A Blackwood three-pointer did make it a three-point game with 4:43 on the clock, but it was Gottingen who went into the first break leading 25-8 following a Jacobson jumper. The visitors scored the first four points of the second quarter to move further ahead, and John Little's lay-up sent them into the locker room 42-21 in front. Kulawick opened the second half scoring and Gottingen's lead never dipped below 16 in the third period before an Oliver three-pointer sent the German team into the final break with a massive 64-37 lead and ending the game as any kind of contest. |
