BC Kyiv defeated Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 84-66 at the weekend in what was their final preparation for the opening of the EuroCup's second stage in St. Petersburg.
The slow pace of the game allowed the visitors to trail by just two points at halftime, but Kyiv's strong play at the end of the contest lifted them to an important psychological win.
Five Kyiv players scored in double digits, topped by Ratko Varda's 17 points and Goran Nicolic's 16. Dusan Kecman and Michael Harris added 14 apiece.
Dnipro's Tautvidas Lideka had a game-high 19 points and Dennis Ivanov and Dmitri Markov both scored 14.
Superleague's leaders Azovmash remain undefeated, having demolished their opponents from Rivne on their home court.
Mariupol's trio of Sergei Lishuk (20 points, 12 rebounds), Art Long (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Lior Lubin (15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists) outscored and outrebounded the entire Rivne squad, inflicting a humiliating 49-95 loss - their 9th in 10 Superleague games.
In the rest of the Saturday's games SK Mariupol defeated Politechnika Lviv 82-67, Sumikhimprom celebrated a 91-83 victory over Budivelnik, Kryvbassbasket suffered a 72-74 home loss to Odessa and Politechnik Kharkiv fell to Cherkassy Monkeys 58-79.
