Celje is following close in the footsteps of Koper and Jesenice with plans for Celje Arena remaining on track to be completed well in advance of EuroBasket 2013 tip-off.
Celje will play host to Group C in the first round and the city will welcome fans with a fan zone planned for Krek Square in the centre from 4th September until 9th September with games being broadcast live for the fans who cannot make it into Celje Arena.
Only minor changes are being made to Celje Arena in order to bring it up-to-date.
Games will be played in the arena prior to EuroBasket tip-off with Slovenia, Latvia, Serbia and Turkey competing in the Laško Group Cup, which will take place between 2nd and 4th of August.

"Celje is a sporting town. In the town with the sporting heart we are very proud of our athletes, which achieve excellent results in many fields," commented Bojan Srot, mayor of the Celje Municipality.
"Besides a great handball team and men and women's judo club, athletes and skittle players, we have a very successful women's basketball team, which means that basketball spirit is alive in Celje.
Secretary General of the Slovenian Basketball Federation, Iztok Rems, spoke highly of the organisation in Celje.
"In the times when we are cooperating at preparations for EuroBasket 2013, the local community of Celje has proven that their representatives have sport in their blood. That is why the organisation is at the top level and I am convinced that everything will go according to the plans."
"The hosts of EuroBasket 2013 First Round Group C are using their experience from hosting the European handball championship to organise EuroBasket 2013 well," said the director of EuroBasket 2013 Aleš Križnar, adding, "We all eagerly wait to see the Slovenian national team in the Arena and thousands of loud fans in the stands.
