|Stratoniki Cholopoulou rubbed salt into Portugal's wounds with a buzzer-beating three on the half|
Greece made it to the Second Round of the U18 European Championship Women in Vukovar with their first win at the third attempt as they completed a one-sided 68-43 Group C success against a still winless Portugal.
Pinelopi Pavlopoulou and Anna Stamolamprou both made their mark from the arc by drilling a combined six triples to harvest over half of their teams' final tally with 35 points.
Having gained the upper hand in the first quarter with a 22-10 lead, Greece went for the jugular in the second period as Portugal disintegrated completely in a truly disastrous ten minutes.
They leaked 23 points and only managed a solitary basket after shooting a truly eye-watering 11% from the field in the first twenty minutes.
Greece took any hope Portugal had of finding a lifeline in the game and threw it away unceremoniously by rubbing salt into the wounds with a buzzer beating three-pointer ahead of half-time by Stratoniki Cholopoulou.
Portugal started the second half with more vigour and finally found their scoring touch but once Greece got rolling again, it was business as usual as they cantered to the victory and sent their opponents to the Classification Round.
