Jose Hernandez will be back in Euroleague Women this season after having his last cut short

Former Spanish national team boss Jose Hernandez will bring his vast experience to Rivas Ecopolis, after the club appointed him as their head coach for the 2013-14 season.

Hernandez is one on the most successful Spanish play-callers at the elite level, having delivered success with his hometown club Perfumerias Avenida, before moving to Poland to take the reins of Wisla Can-Pack.

The 43-year-old spent almost four seasons in Krakow and took Wisla to EuroLeague Women Final Four a couple of years ago, as well as the EuroLeague Women Final Eight during 2012.

He also landed a host of domestic titles including a memorable and all-conquering 2011-12 season when the team snatched a Polish League and Cup double.

However, his otherwise successful era with Wisla came to a surprisingly abrupt and unceremonious end when he left the club by mutual consent in the middle of a play-off series against Bourges Basket a few months ago.

Hernandez also managed to mastermind podium success for Spain at the FIBA World Championship during 2010 when they took bronze in Karlovy Vary. Prior to this, he managed to find gold medal success with Spanish U16 youth teams.

He succeeds Miguel Mendez who spent two years at the helm, taking Rivas to the EuroLeague Women runners-up spot in 2012 but failing to grab a place at the Final Eight earlier this year.
