Daiga Jansone's side outrebounded Turkey 45-27.

In the other Group B game, Spain trailed 37-36 early in the third quarter but went on a 15-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 51-39 lead.

Mete Celius' five consecutive points allowed Belgium to cut the deficit 51-44 with three minutes to go in the quarter.

However, the Belgians went ice cold and failed to score in the first four minutes of the final quarter as Spain pulled away for a 77-49 victory.

Spain power forward Leonor Rodriguez led all scorers with 15 points.
