Rivas Ecopolis have moved quickly to strengthen their weakened frontcourt by acquiring the services of American forward Jasmine Hassell.

Rivas had little option but to make a move after losing center Laura Gil to an ACL injury earlier in the week, an absence which followed hot on the heels of the departure of fellow center Kelly Schumacher during the mid-season break.

The 22-year-old will make her debut in Euroleague Women having played recently in the Israeli League, where she averaged 15 points and 6.9 rebounds per game with Elizur Netanya.

Hassell is a graduate of the University of Georgia and arrives having also tasted brief court time in the WNBA last summer when she stepped out for spells with both Seattle Storm and Indiana Fever.

Despite their lack of options in the frontcourt, Rivas kept their hopes of reaching the post-season alive in Group B, by racking up a morale-boosting 63-56 success against Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration - a result which ended a four game losing run.
