|Laura Cornelius was the leader for the Netherlands on Saturday, scoring 23 points|
Playmaker Laura Cornelius helped the Netherlands wrap up their Group A campaign at the U18 European Championship Women with a 72-59 victory against Czech Republic to stay perfect after three games.
Cornelius was the one Dutch player to have her shooting radar tuned in and accrued 23 points to lead her team home in a game the Czechs looked like they might sneak until the last 10 minutes when they faded.
With both teams already clutching a ticket for the second round of the competition, it was a game which was about trying to secure top spot in the Group.
The Czech Republic started like an express train, steaming their way into a double-digit lead early at 18-8 after a basket by Eliska Mircova.
Netherlands eventually composed themselves and were on equal terms after scoring 11 of the next 12 points in the game, but in a real roller-coaster, Czech Republic restored their 10-point advantage at 31-21.
Once again it would evaporate, Netherlands managing to get back on an equal footing early in the second half and then at 49, they made a big push defensively.
They held their opponents to just 10 points during the last 14 minutes of the game and it proved decisive as they eased their way clear.
