Belgium added to the congestion at the top of Group B in the EuroBasket Women Additional Qualifying Tournament as they edged out Romania 70-63 to tie their record at 1-1.

Romania had beaten Germany on Saturday to leave three teams tied at 1-1, and this result goes further towards ensuring everyone still has a chance in the group.

Emma Meesseman scored 20 points and collected 11 rebounds before fouling out, but even without her, Belgium were able to pull clear in the final seconds to record their first win of the group.

Meesseman's jump-shot had given Belgium a 65-61 lead with 1:07 to go, but she then fouled Maria Pascalau as she scored the basket that made it 65-63.

Meesseman had to sit down, but watched Pascalau miss the free throw.

Romina Ciappina missed a three for Belgium but Ancuta Stoenescu and Claudia Pop then did likewise for Romania.

Ciappina made them pay with a big three 34 seconds from time to make it 68-63 and, after Pop came up empty again, Emmanuella Mayombo iced it from the free-throw line.

Those free throws lifted Emmanuella Mayombo on to 13 points while her sister Noemie Mayombo scored 10.

Pascalau and Gabriela Marginean led Romania with 14 points each while Stoenescu had 12.
Romania drop to 1-2.
