We take a look around Europe at some of the players on the move in the past week, including at Villeneuve d'Ascq who have made a sizeable statement with the capture of exciting Les Bleus senior stars Olivia Epoupa and Valeriane Ayayi.
Fans in Villeneuve will certainly be delighted that two of the most talented young players in France are heading to their club for the 2016-17 campaign - with the player themelves potentially having a Rio spot to focus upon first.
It will also see them re-united, having played together at Basket Landes earlier in their respective careers. Epoupa has since played at Toulouse Metropole Basket, while Ayayi has competed in EuroLeague Women with Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration and with the San Antonio Silver Stars in the WNBA. The winger also enjoyed a terrific second season with Montpellier, helping them to multiple domestic silverware last season after winning the French Cup and Championship titles.
Villeneuve will also welcome Mame Marie Sy Diop from Montpellier, with Czech forward Kamila Stepanova having played at Toulouse alongside Epoupa. The club have also confirmed that Johanne Gomis, Aby Gaye, Imane El Garti, Marielle Amant and Virginie Bremont have all re-signed.
Elswhere, Mersin Buyuksehir enjoyed a productive season in the Turkish League during 2015-16 and they have outlined their intent to continue in the same vein next year after they made a move to ink Tiffany Hayes. The WNBA star is currently showing her scoring talent with Atlanta Dream and the guard averaged a healthy 17 points per game last season at Yakin Dogu Universitesi.
Another American guard staying in Turkish basketball is Chelsea Gray after she re-signed for another year with Agu Spor, having originally moved to Kayseri midway through last season.
Meanwhile in Liga Femenina, Gray's former employers Spar CityLift Girona have appointed 33-year-old Eric Suris as their new head coach. The play-caller moves from Liga EBA side, CB Salt.
