Turkey kept their perfect record intact with a hard-fought 52-43 win over Russia at the U20 European Championship Women on Monday night.
The hosts join France at the top of Group F, with both teams already having their place in the quarter-finals assured.
Turkey took the lead for good midway through the second quarter, when triples from forwards Elif Emirtekin and Özge Kavurmacioglu helped them build a 30-21 halftime lead. The margin went into double digits after the break, but the Russians showed resilience, attempting several comebacks.
However, Turkey's lead never came to question.
Even though they were outrebounded 51-41, Turkey forced 19 turnovers and kept Russia below 30% shooting from the floor to get the win.
Ayse Cora led Turkey in scoring with 11 points, while Kavurmacioglu amassed 10 points and 16 rebounds.
Ksenia Tikhonenko grabbed 18 rebounds for Russia, in addition to her eight points which were matched by Alina Zamaraeva.
