Ricardas Verbickas hit 5-of-10 from beyond the arc in a dominant Lithuanian performance
An 18-0 run by Lithuania to begin the game carried the team to a 96-57 win over the Czech Republic in the opening Group E matchup at the U18 European Championship in Latvia.
In maybe the most impressive shooting display of the tournament, Lithuania stunned the Czech Republic by hitting five first quarter three-point baskets, running out to a commanding 21-point quarter time advantage.
After some readjusting the Czechs came back to life, outscoring Lithuania in the second quarter, but were unable to stop the Lukas Grabauskas and Zydrunas Jurgutis-led onslaught as the team added another four triples in the quarter.
Lithuania rolled on and continued to produce from beyond the three-point line, finishing with 17 threes in the 39-point win.
Ricardas Verbickas and Haroldas Saprykinas led Lithuania with 17 points each while Grabauskas added 14.
Martin Peterka scored 15 points for the Czech Republic.
