Four members of the EuroBasket 2013 delegation and Palma travel agency visited Montenegro on Tuesday and Wednesday to promote the biggest European basketball event this year.
EuroBasket 2013 Ambassador Ivo Daneu, EuroBasket 2013 Communications Manager Anže Blažič, together with Marko Sikur and Fredi Fontatot of the official EuroBasket 2013 Travel Agency Palma had held a press conference in cooperation with the Montenegrin Basketball Federation on Wednesday.
Slovenia's ambassador in Podgorica, Vladimir Gasparič and Montenegro's national team manager Danilo Mitrovic also spoke at the press conference, presenting EuroBasket 2013 to local media representatives, highlighting the many innovations at EuroBasket and the aim to make it a green event.
Ticket sales were actively promoted, as were the EuroBasket preparation events in Jesenice in the beginning of September and the status of renovations in Podmezakla Arena.
Of course the June edition of EuroBasket 2013 Magazine was introduced and the co-organisers of the press conference received t-shirts, reading "Navijam zu Crno goru (I cheer for Montenegro)".
The EuroBasket 2013 delegation was given a warm reception at the Slovenian Embassy, only a few days ahead of Slovenia's independence day on 25 June with Ivo Daneu speaking to the 200 invited guests.
The Slovenian Government's Communication Office organised a basketball court in the city centre, where a team from Slovenia faced a "home team" from Montenegro with Daneu coaching the Slovenian side.
To round up the visit, the EuroBasket 2013 delegation met with Montenegro President Filip Vujanović, with Daneu inviting him to Slovenia for EuroBasket.
"Slovenia and Montenegro have many things in common, especially from a basketball point of view, because those are two countries with excellent players, who play in the best clubs," explained Daneu.
"I believe that every [Montenegrin] fans will be warmly accepted in the same way as I am always when I visit Montenegro and I hope that lots of Montenegrins will come to EuroBasket," he concluded.
Montenegro team manager Danilo Mitrović proclaimed: "I believe that Slovenia will prepare an excellent event and prove that countries from our part of Europe can organise championships well."
