|The EuroBasket 2015 LOC from Ukraine with their Slovenian counterparts in Ljubljana|
EuroBasket 2013 is yet to tip off but already planning for EuroBasket 2015 underway, with a delegation from 2015 hosts, Ukraine, this week visiting Slovenia to learn from 2013 organisers.
A six-member delegation of the Ukrainian Local Organising Committee (LOC), were hosted by their Slovenian counterparts with the aim of gaining information regarding the organisation of Europe's flagship basketball event.
In addition to meeting with the LOC, the Ukrainian delegation also visited both the Ljubljana arenas that will be used during the event, three of the official hotels and Postojna Cave, the venue of the draw for September's tournament.
"Although the EuroBasket 2013 LOC is currently extremely busy with organising the upcoming event, it has been our great pleasure to host the Ukrainian delegation and give them information they need for their current stage of organisation," Secretary General of EuroBasket 2013 Alenka Skreblin said during the visit, adding, "From EuroBasket 2011 and learning from the Lithuanian LOC, we know that experiences of previous organisers are extremely important.
"We are absolutely sure they are going to prepare a wonderful spectacle."
EuroBasket 2015 Tournament Director Markiyan Lubkivskyi thanked his Slovenian colleagues, commenting that he believed the visit was the beginning of what will grow to become a fruitful relationship: "Without a doubt, this visit is going to be the beginning of an efficient information exchange and cooperation between the representatives of the local organising committees of Ukraine and Slovenia."
