Walsh Leads Aris To Big Home Win

Aris moved back into seventh place in Greece's top flight at the weekend after rolling to a 95-78 home triumph over Panionios.

Recent signing Matt Walsh finished with 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists for Aris and was voted 19th Round MVP in the A1 Ethniki.

"It's a great honor for me to win the award for player of the week in such a tough league as the Greek one," he said.

"I have the chance to fight play on a team with great teammates and a great coach and this is the result.

"This award is proof that we are getting better as a team and moving in the right direction."

In other games, leaders Panathinaikos grinded out an 82-74 victory at P.A.O.K. while second-place Olympiacos thrashed Ilisiakos 101-60.

Third-place Maroussi put a string of recent defeats behind them and prevailed 78-65 over Trikala.

Panellinios claimed an 86-79 victory over Peristeriou, Kavala suffered a 74-72 home defeat to Kolossos and A.E.K. won 82-79 at Olympia Larisa.
