|Laura Juskaite played a major role in assuring Lithuania remain in Division A|
Lithuania are celebrating holding onto their precious place in U18 European Championship Women Division A after Laura Juskaite inspired a 52-42 win over Greece who go crashing down to Division B.
Turning Point: As Greece looked to capitalise on a possible late wobble by their opponents, they narrowed to within four points at 46-42 with just over two minutes to play, but Lithuania held their nerve. Juskaite grabbed three huge boards in quick succession at both ends of the floor and that pushed the game firmly back in favour of her team.
Game Heroes: Juskaite claimed an exceptional double-double after scoring 15 points and amassing a phenomenal 21 rebounds to go with five assists. Daugile Sauskaite was also hugely effective and scored five-of-six from the floor to claim 12 points.
Stats Don't Lie: Greece shot 25% and were out-muscled 50-36 on the glass.
The Bottom Line: Without the influential Dalia Belickaite, survival was the aim for Lithuania and they managed to achieve it - although it was far from straightforward. After six losses in seven games, they finished with two victories to save their skin. Greece won four games, one more than their opponents so can feel aggrieved at having to stomach the drop down, but crucially they lost twice to Lithuania.
