Galatasaray odeabank got off to a winning start in EuroLeague Women Group C as they cruised past Perfumerias Avenida 81-56 in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The hosts closed the opening period on a 14-0 run, sparked by some dominant play down low from Nevriye Yilmaz, and were never in danger of losing after that.

Yilmaz made light work of the Spanish side's frontcourt, scoring almost at will for 23 points while also corralling 10 rebounds.

Galatasary really made their superior strength show in the third quarter when they outscored their opponents 25 points to eight. Alba Torrens converted an alley-oop pass from Isil Alben midway through this period for two of her 15 points against her former club - to emphasise the gap between the teams.

Turkish international point guard Alben perhaps demonstrated Galatasaray's dominance most accurately with her 10 assists.

The lead was up to 37 before the final stanza with Leonor Rodriguez the only visiting player to score in double figures (10) as Kelsey Bone received one of the tamer EuroLeague Women baptism's, scoring eight points in 18 minutes of play for Gala.
