|Bulgaria international Jaklin Zlatanova will miss five to eight months after suffering an achilles tendon rupture|
Rivas Ecopolis went into the 2012-13 season full of optimism, despite the loss of several key players from their team that reached the EuroLeague Women Final in Istanbul earlier this year.
Amaya Valdemoro, Elisa Aguilar, Asjha Jones and Essence Carson all moved to pastures new, but one way that Rivas planned to cope with their departures was to bring in the best player in Bulgaria's national team, Jaklin Zlatanova.
The 1.88 m power forward, who averaged 14.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Bulgarians in the Qualification Round for EuroBasket Women 2013, ruptured her Achilles tendon in training and has been lost for the season.
On Tuesday, Zlatanova underwent an operation to repair the Achilles tendon and the club estimates she will be out of action for between five and eight months.
