|Tianna Hawkins's standout performance gave UE Sopron the boost they needed for an all-important win|
A towering 27-point performance by Tianna Hawkins carried UE Sopron to a vital 61-54 home win against Lattes Montpellier as they injected life into their EuroLeague Women campaign.
The forward caught fire to catapult her side to a second win of the season in Group B, as the home fans in Sopron revelled in seeing their team shine during crunch time with a terrific late surge.
In an intense tussle, which saw only brief moments of daylight between both clubs, it had looked like BLMA might take the upper-hand when Geraldine Robert put them 27-19 ahead.
However, the hosts rallied and a basket by Katarina Tetemondova locked the game up at 33-33 as the teams headed for the locker rooms.
With both sides suffering from a poor shooting night from three-point range, it became a real war of attrition as they each looked to post a decisive swing of the pendulum.
It finally arrived inside the last six minutes of the contest as Sopron finally wore down the visitors with their superior work on the boards and through the stellar play of Hawkins.
With the game finely balanced at 47-47, Hawkins took over and delivered a sparkling nine consecutive points, culminating in a huge three-pointer to effectively give her team the victory.
Hawkins was just one rebound shy of a double-double, whilst Robert top-scored for BLMA with 16 points.
