|Dominika Miloszewska had 10 points for Poland in victory|
Poland held on against Hungary 53-50 on the first day of action in Classification Group G at the U20 European Championship Women on Monday.
With the lead constantly changing hands for 35 minutes, neither team held more than a five-point advantage until, in the fourth quarter, Poland made a decisive 10-0 run, and helped by a three-pointer from Dominika Owczarzak, built a 53-45 lead with less than three minutes to go allowing them to cling on for victory.
Poland overcame a 44-35 rebounding deficit by hitting eight triples, while holding their opponents to 30% shooting from the field.
Karolina Puss went five-for-eight behind the arc and led in victory with 23 points. Owczarzak had 10 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Dominika Miloszewska also scored 10 points. Amadea Szamosi had 16 points for Hungary, but missed a tough potential game-tying triple at the final buzzer.
