The Belgian basketball community has been in mourning following the passing of former Belgian Basketball Federation President, Philippe Verreydt. Mr Verreydt was aged 66.
The Federation passed on its deepest sympathies to Mr Verreydt's family following last week's passing and to also pay tribute to his work.
Mr Verreydt served the organisation and Belgian Basketball for more than a decade through the late eighties and early nineties.
His joint Secretary-General, Stefan Garaleas, communicated the news with a statement on behalf of the FRBB.
"The Royal Belgian Basketball Federation has been informed of the passing of Mr Philipp Verreydt on 17 September at age 66," the statement read.
"Mr Verreydt was the President of the FRBB from 1981 to 1993 and contributed a lot to the development and progress of Belgian basketball and more specifically of its federation.
