Latvia Turnovers Seal Fate Against Italy

Italy opened their U18 European Championship Women 2010 campaign in Spisska Nova ves, Slovakia with a 65-53 win over an error-prone Latvia team. For the losing team this will definitely be a game to forget judging by their 31 turnovers.

Linda Pagrode led in scoring after the first half, but Latvia committed as many as 15 turnovers that let Italy keep control and take the advantage 36-27 before the second half.

Italy kept pushing hard on the defense in the second half and forced Latvia to turn the ball over on numerous occassions.

The winners showed a great team effort on the offense as well, with four players reaching double digits in the scoring with Lucia Morsiani top-scoring with 13 pts.
 
Pogrode finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Latvia.
