Glamour Magazine has presented their Sports Award for 2010 to the Spanish women's national team.
Spain were honored after claiming the bronze medal at the FIBA World Championship in the Czech Republic.
Four players were on hand to receive the recognition at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid.
Among them were veterans Amaya Valdemoro and Elisa Aguilar.
"This is an acknowledgement for the great work done in the World Championship but above all, for the work done in previous years," said Valdemoro, the MVP of the EuroBasket Women 2007 in Italy and one of the leading players in the EuroLeague Women for more than a decade.
"This national team has a long future and at the very least, we will try to qualify for the 2012 Olympics."
Valdemoro's good friend and Rivas Ecopolis teammate Aguilar said: "It's the first time that our national team has received an award but this is just recognition for the successful work done by the women's team for many years that culminated with the bronze medal at the World Championship.
"That magazine Glamour has considered us gives us great pride."
Valdemoro, who nearly led Rivas to an upset of Fenerbahce in the EuroLeague Women this week, has also been named as the Most Admired Woman of the Year by the magazine Women Today.
The 34-year-old had 17 points, six assists and two steals but missed a potential game-winning three-pointer in the waning seconds at undefeated Fenerbahce on Wednesday.
