France racked up a 79-70 road win in Croatia to stay perfect and manoeuvre their way into pole position in Group B of the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers window.
Turning Point: Les Bleues blew away Croatia with a 21-5 run either side of the interval.
Stats Don't Lie: France controlled the glass and out-rebounded their opponents 47-35, helped by the absence of home powerhouse Luca Ivankovic who was ruled out.
Game Heroes: France are normally renowned for their play under the basket but it was the wing play of Gaelle Skrela and Valeriane Ayayi which proved to be highly productive. The former weighed in with 14 points and shot a magnificent 71% from the floor while the returning Ayayi put up 15 points in the absence of the injured Diandra Tchatchouang.
The Bottom Line: Croatia now find themselves under real pressure after dropping to 1-2 and were second best for the middle part of the contest, with only Marija Rezan and Iva Ciglar finding some rhythm. The blunted display of the naturalised Shavonte Zellous will be a concern and the guard will need to produce in the remaining games. France were without a couple of big guns in the paint but coped well and there was a real glimpse of the future with rising star Aby Gaye scoring 12 points.
