Tilbe Senyürek showed no signs of ill affect from the injury that removed her from the court 24 hours earlier
Turkey locked up top spot in Group A at the U20 European Championship Women as they held of a brave Belgium 48-42 in Udine on Saturday to make it three wins from three.
Turning Point: When Deniz Dogan connected from long range to register the final scoring of the first period and Büsra Akbas added another triple with the first basket of the second quarter it stretched Turkey's lead to 14-6, but more importantly, it gave them a comfortable enough cushion to ensure they would play front runner for the remainder.
Game Hero: Tilbe Senyürek again exerted her influence all over this game despite not erupting on the scoring front. She still finished with eight points but it was her 10 rebounds and physical presence in general which caused the biggest problems for Belgium.
Stats Don't Lie: Belgium simply could not live with the stronger Turkish side under the basket. They were outscored 24-12 in the painted area, struggling in this part of the court on both ends of the floor.
The Bottom Line: Belgium battled back and were never out of sight, pulling back within four points at the beginning of the final period, but they exit the gold medal race without a win. Turkey on the other hand are good value as group winners and look ready for the next challenge.
