Vineta Birina had a monster game in Latvia's win at the U18 European Championship Division B while Estonia played another close game and both hosts Romania and Luxembourg captured their first victories.
Birina scored 32 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as Latvia knocked off Bulgaria 75-62 to improve to 1-1 in Group E of the 1st-8th Classification Round. Paula Strautmane added 14 points and Ieva Spigule scored 13 for the winners.
Borislava Hristova had 21 points and eight rebounds while Teodora Dineva chipped in 18 points for Bulgaria, who dropped to 0-2 in the group.
Group E is topped by Estonia, who got 18 points and 11 rebounds from Kadri Lass in a 52-49 win over Finland in overtime to move to 2-0.
After neither team scored in the final 1:32 minutes of regulation, Finland went ahead 49-46 early in the extra session before Estonia scored the final six points of the game.
Estonia is making a habit of playing close games, winning their first two games by one and two points before losing the third contest by one point.
Finland dropped to 1-1.
Group F is topped by Hungary and Israel, who are both 2-0 while England and Montenegro are both 0-2.
Eniko Kuttor collected 17 points and 10 rebounds as Hungary beat England 77-48 while Dorottya Nagy scored 17 points.
Daniel Raber scored 16 points and Tal Yakov had 14 in Israel's 77-60 win over Montenegro.
In the 9th-17th Classification Round, hosts Romania secured their first win of the tournament with a 77-72 victory over Iceland in Group H. Ana Feraiu scored 19 points while Paula Lenart had 11 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Romania improved to 1-0 in the group and Iceland dropped to 0-2 despite 22 points, 12 rebounds and six rebounds for Sara Hinriksdóttir.
Luxembourg's Lisa Jablonowski collected 22 points, 14 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a 53-45 victory over Switzerland in Group G for a 1-1 record.
Switzerland dropped to 0-1.
In Group I, Vita Grobobets scored 25 points and Olga Yatskovets collected 10 points, 25 rebounds and four blocks as Ukraine beat Ireland 61-56 to move to 2-0 in the group while Ireland dropped to 0-1.
