|Polina Fedorova made an inspiring 21 points and 11 boards for Russia |
Russia will compete for fifth place at the U18 European Championship Women in Vukovar after wiping the floor with Turkey 63-41, off the back of a spectacular second half performance and 21 points from Polina Fedorova.
The forward also finished her stellar work by hauling down 11 rebounds to complete an excellent double-double, as Turkey completely imploded after the break.
Turkey had enjoyed the first-half, managing to get the better of the first twenty minutes to take a 27-22 lead, with center Basak Altunbey particularly impressive.
However, they completely lost concentration during a stoppage in play at the start of the second half and Russia took full advantage.
They outscored their opponents by a massive 41-14 scoreline across the second-half, as Turkey went 1-for-16 from three-point range and failed to cope with the added rebounding presence of the Russians.
Yana Degtyarskaya recorded a nice cameo with 11 points but there were slim pickings for Turkey, outside of a fantastic 17 points and nine rebounds by Altunbey.
