EUROBASKET 2013

The EuroBasket pormotional tour stopped over in Zagreb, Croatia this week

Basketball has played a diplomatic role in Zagreb this week with Slovenian President, Borut Pahor meeting with his Croatian equivalent Ivo Josipović as part of the EuroBasket 2013 promotions.

A basketball court was set up in the centre of Zagreb on Wednesday with local media taking on Slovenian media in a game of basketball. Eventually, the local media prevailed in a closely fought game.

Croatian journalists present were informed of the ongoing promotional activities surrounding EuroBasket 2013, including the recently launched EuroBasket Fan Choir Facebook application and EuroBasket digital magazine.

On Thursday Pahor and Josipović visited the court in Ban Jelačić Square, joining Lipko for some activities on the court. The former also presented the latter with a special basketball, signed by all of the EuroBasket 2013 Ambassadors.

It is the first time that Pahor has visited Croatia in an official capacity and the first time since 2009 that a Slovenian president has gone to Zagreb - a sign of the efforts of both parties to strengthen relationships.

Pahor was quoted in Slovenian media saying that the trip had helped transform their "common friendship into [a] good friendship".
