FYR of Macedonia Clinic 2012
110 referees and commissioners attended the Ohrid clinic that was supported by FIBA Europe

Ahead of the upcoming club season, the Basketball Federation of F.Y.R. of Macedonia organised its annual national referee clinic in Ohrid, a city that has seen a lot of international basketball in recent years.

The clinic received full support by FIBA Europe, as FIBA Europe instructor William Jones, together with FIBA Commissioners Gjorgi Piperkov and Dejan Lekic, the Secretary General of the Basketball Federation of F.Y.R. of Macedonia, were the lecturers during the three days of classes.

110 referees and commissioners from all over the country took part in the event that was held from 21 to 23 September.

The lectures included all aspects of modern refereeing, such as "Communication and Game Management", "Pre-game Conference and Criteria of Calling Fouls" as well as a rules update for 2012.

The latest FIBA Europe teaching materials were also distributed to all participants free of charge and an extra session was dedicated to those materials, including a discussion of various clips.

The programme concluded with a workshop on referee mistakes and the national youth competition system in F.Y.R. of Macedonia for the 2012/13 season.

All attending referees underwent physical tests and also sat an obligatory theoretical exam on their knowledge of basketball rules, a test that attending commissioners also had to take.
