Gigli Has Wrist-Op

03 September 2010

Italy center Angelo Gigli has undergone wrist surgery and will miss the beginning of the Lega A campaign with Virtus Roma.

The 27-year-old had a ligament injury in right wrist that needed to be operated on.

A member of the side that played in EuroBasket qualifying with the Azzurri this summer, Gigli is expected back on the court in two months.

Gigli averaged 4.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game for the Italians, who came in third in Group A behind Montenegro and Israel.

Italy will play in the Additional Qualifying Round for EuroBasket 2011 next summer.
