|Bryan Hopkins came out guns blazing for Antwerp Giants, finishing with 42 points|
Antwerp Giants turned on the style in the fourth quarter to record a convincing 93-74 win over Hapoel Holon in Group H of the EuroChallenge, but it was not enough to get them into the Last 16.
Instead, they missed out in a three-way tie at the top of the group as Hapoel joined Telekom Baskets Bonn, winners over Armia, in progressing to the Last 16, all with a 4-2 record.
That was perhaps harsh on an Antwerp team who outscored Hapoel 36-16 in a stunning final 10 minutes, particularly on the outstanding Bryan Hopkins who poured in 42 points in the win, sinking nine-of-16 (56.3%) of his attempts from three-point range.
It was an often scrappy encounter for the opening 30 minutes, with Antwerp briefly building a 45-33 advantage just before half-time only to see it just as quickly wiped out.
Hapoel led 63-60 with eight and half minutes left, but Hopkins hit a three to tie it and then edged Antwerp in front with two free throws.
That was the start of a 13-0 run that quickly gave Antwerp a double-digit lead and, as Hopkins rained in the threes, they raced out of Hapoel's reach.
Jean Mwema also scored in double figures for Antwerp with 15 points while Jason Love had 10.
Franklin Hassell led Hapoel with 15 points while David Smith and Zachary Rosen added 13 each.
