FIBA Europe has been involved in another successful referee clinic, this time in Tbilisi, Georgia from 26 to 29 March.

In addition to referees and club officials, a large number of club coaches were also in attendance for the course which covered topics focusing on communication, game management and conflict management. Additionally, there was a session specifically designed for the benefit of table officials and commissioners.

Attending the clinic on behalf of FIBA Europe was Head of Competitions and Referee Department, Richard Stokes, who doubled up his trip to Georgia as an opportunity to inspect facilities that will be used for the 2015 European Youth Olympics.

Two basketball facilities are being given a complete overhaul, leaving the country with the legacy of two modernised basketball facilities, allowing Georgia the ability to potentially host European-level tournaments and competitions in the future - a topic which Stokes discussed at length Georgian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Levan Kipiani.

Another undertaking by Stokes during the trip was to meet with the new President of the Georgian Basketball Federation, Michael Gabrichidze, as well as the federation's Secretary General George Kartvelishvili to discuss new projects in officiating, amongst other areas.

The trip was co-ordinated and arranged by FIBA Commissioner and Director of International Affairs for the Georgian Basketball Federation, Merab Ratishvili.
